A short, honest privacy notice.

This site is deliberately quiet about data. Here is exactly what happens, and what does not.

On the website

If you email us

The site invites corrections, photo submissions, and business updates by email to hello@whereedinburgh.co.uk. If you write to us, we hold:

Purpose: keeping pages factually correct, crediting and honouring photo permissions, and replying to you. The lawful basis is legitimate interest in running an accurate guide and responding to the people who write to it. We do not sell this information or add it to marketing lists. It is handled only by Where Edinburgh and the service providers needed to operate email and maintain these records.

Retention: routine enquiries and correction correspondence are kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, then deleted. Records needed to document a photo licence, credit, or other publication permission are kept while the relevant material is published and for 12 months after it is removed. We may keep a record longer where this is reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for corrections or deletion, restrict how it is used, or object to its use. Email hello@whereedinburgh.co.uk. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Controller: James Simpson, trading as Where Edinburgh, contactable at hello@whereedinburgh.co.uk.
